Rewilding Policy: We believe we can effectively influence the U.S. government and states across the nation to embrace rewilding and implement a plan that enhances native flora and fauna, and conserves more of America's wildlands. Our goal is to design programs for farmers, landowners, investors, and conservationists who wish to rewild sections or large swaths of land, returning it to nature and making America one of the wildest places on Earth.

Encouraged by our rewilding work abroad, in 2023 we launched a developmental policy strategy to persuade state and federal legislatures to introduce rewilding across the nation. Efforts are ongoing and we utilize political relationships at the state and federal level to promote ecosystem conservation and the introduction of rewilding policy, promoting a state-by-state strategy in unison with existing federal framework. It is our goal to have rewilding legislation initiated in 30 of the 50 states by the year 2035.

Wildlife Corridors & Landscape Connectivity: Rewilding isn’t just about setting land aside—it’s about stitching ecosystems back together. That’s why HFF Nature supports the creation and restoration of wildlife corridors that reconnect fragmented habitats and allow species to move, migrate, and adapt freely.

These corridors—whether through conservation easements, regenerative agriculture zones, or smart infrastructure planning—are essential to meeting 30x30 goals. They expand functional habitat, reduce human-wildlife conflict, and build climate resilience across entire regions.

In America, from the Okefenokee to the Appalachian spine to the Western Range, and across key UK ecological linkages, our work focuses on restoring connectivity between public and private lands. These living bridges are the arteries of a thriving natural world—and an essential pillar of any serious rewilding policy.

30x30 Initiative: At HFF Nature, we proudly support the global 30x30 initiative — a bold, science-backed goal to conserve 30% of lands and waters by 2030. This target is not just a number; it’s a roadmap to safeguarding biodiversity, strengthening climate resilience, and ensuring a livable planet for future generations.

Our mission aligns with 30x30 by focusing on high-impact conservation efforts that protect ecologically rich landscapes, restore critical habitats, and empower local and Indigenous communities to steward natural resources. Whether through strategic land acquisition, habitat rewilding, or policy engagement, we prioritize actions that contribute meaningfully to the global 30% target.

HFF Nature works in collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, scientists, and landowners to advance this goal across the U.S. and beyond. From supporting state-level conservation legislation to funding nature-based climate solutions, our work is guided by a simple belief: that protecting nature is foundational to a healthy, prosperous, and secure future.
